Patios & Block Paving in Coventry & Warwickshire
Brick patios, block paving and pathways combine practical outdoor access with careful attention to levels, drainage and the finished pattern.
What's included
Layout, levels and everyday use
Start with how the space will be used: seating, walking routes, bin access and connections to doors or steps. The layout should make these movements straightforward without leaving awkward corners or unexpected changes in level. Material choice affects texture, joint appearance and maintenance. Block paving and paving slabs require different bedding and jointing methods, so the construction should suit the selected product rather than rely on a single approach for every surface.
Preparation and drainage falls
A lasting surface depends on what is underneath. Excavation, a suitable compacted sub-base and correctly prepared bedding help limit settlement. The depth and construction depend on ground conditions and whether the surface is for pedestrians or vehicles. A patio needs appropriate falls so rainwater reaches a suitable drainage point instead of pooling beside the house. Finished levels should respect damp-proof courses and thresholds. The required gradient varies with the paving material and the drainage arrangement.
Edges, joints and future maintenance
Edge restraint helps hold block paving in position, while appropriate jointing supports the intended finish and performance. Existing drainage should be considered before laying over an area or changing its levels. Permeable paving works as a complete system, not simply as blocks with wide joints. Cleaning and maintenance need to suit the product; aggressive pressure washing can disturb some joints. At the site visit, discuss access, the intended use and where water currently collects so preparation and drainage can be considered together.
Our process
Every project begins with a conversation about what you want to achieve and what is already there. A site visit lets the proposed work be considered alongside access, existing materials and any drawings. Use that visit to raise questions about preparation, finishes and the boundaries of the brickwork package. Agreeing these points early helps everyone understand the work and the sequence before it starts.

F & E Brickwork brings together two experienced teams, with Morgan and Niall on site. The same approach runs through the existing services: fixed pricing, clear communication and a 10-year workmanship guarantee. A written quote helps you understand the agreed scope rather than compare figures for different jobs. Discuss assumptions and any work by other trades before accepting it. Ask about the guarantee and how it applies to your proposed work at the free site visit.
Areas we cover
We cover Coventry and Warwickshire, including Leamington Spa, Rugby, Nuneaton and Kenilworth. Whether you have drawings ready or are still considering the options, contact Morgan or Niall with your location and a brief outline of the job. Mention access restrictions and any existing damage so the first conversation is useful. We’ll confirm at the free site visit which details affect the proposed work, rather than make assumptions from a photograph alone.
All areas we cover"The team were excellent when working on our house. They were always on time and very hardworking. Communication was perfect especially when any questions asked. Always left the job tidy after everyday. 100% recommend."
Patios & Paving: common questions
Will the patio drain away from the house?
Appropriate falls and a suitable drainage destination are important, but the layout depends on levels and the chosen material. We’ll confirm at the free site visit.
Can I use the same paving for a path and driveway?
Vehicle loading needs an appropriate paving specification and supporting construction. A pedestrian patio build-up is not automatically suitable for vehicles; we’ll confirm at the free site visit.
Do you offer block paving and brick patios?
Both are listed among the services on the homepage. Materials, patterns, edging and the precise scope depend on your space; we’ll confirm at the free site visit.
How should I maintain the finished paving?
Follow the paving and jointing manufacturers’ guidance. Cleaning methods, replenishing joints and dealing with weeds vary by product; we’ll confirm the relevant approach at the free site visit.
